The School of Nursing at North Dakota State University invites applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor. We seek collaborative individuals engaged in nursing and health services research, with preference for candidates who possess or demonstrate the potential to develop a funded research portfolio that complements current faculty scholarship. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, healthcare informatics, implementation science, quality and process improvement, population health, rural health, health equity, chronic disease management, health systems innovation, care delivery models, and outcomes research.

The successful candidate will hold a DNP or PhD in Nursing or a closely related field and be prepared to contribute to the teaching, research, and service missions of the School of Nursing. Clinical practice as a nurse practitioner is encouraged but not required. The major foci of this position will be to establish and maintain an active, independent program of research and scholarship while teaching doctoral DNP students. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest and track record in securing extramural funding, leading interdisciplinary research initiatives, and advancing evidence-based improvements in healthcare delivery and outcomes.

Additional expectations include developing and teaching courses in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program and other graduate nursing programs; mentoring DNP students and scholarly projects; supervising graduate student research; serving on School, College, and University committees; contributing to the research, education, and practice missions of the School of Nursing; supporting accreditation standards and program assessment activities; engaging in student recruitment and retention efforts; fostering academic-practice partnerships; and collaborating with faculty, healthcare systems, and community partners to advance nursing science, healthcare quality, and innovation. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Nursing.

RESPONSIBILITIES.

Coordinate and teach courses as assigned by the Associate Dean/Chair of the School of Nursing. Using the SON workload formula as a guide, teaching responsibilities will be incorporated into the position based on School needs and candidate’s expertise.

Participate in scholarly activity through innovative activities which would be suitable for presentation at local, regional, or national meetings and publication in professional refereed journals and or procurement of intramural and extramural funding.

Serve on committees as assigned by the College of Health and Human Sciences. Serve as preceptor for students as needed. Serve as chair or committee member on DNP students’ clinical dissertation committees.

Work Schedule: Full-time, 9-month, Tenure Track Faculty Position

Hiring Range: $85,000-$110,000

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctor of Nursing Practice/Nurse Practitioner focus or PhD in related field, or MS in Nursing enrolled in a doctoral program.

Excellent oral and written communication and collaboration skills

Teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Terminal Degree: DNP, PhD

Process improvement science, health innovation, quality improvement expertise

Experience writing and carrying out grant activities

Eligibility for licensure as a nurse practitioner in North Dakota

Advanced Practice Certification as a Nurse Practitioner
