As a Surgical Technologist, you will play an essential role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care byassistingsurgeons and Registered Nurses throughout a wide range of operative procedures. Working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, you will helpmaintaina sterile field, anticipate the needs of the surgicalteamand support positive patient outcomes from the start of each procedure through completion.
In this hands-on role, you will prepare the operating room by organizing supplies and equipment, setting up sterile instrumentation, performing surgical counts, draping the sterile field, passing instruments during procedures, preparing sterile dressings and cleaning instruments for terminal sterilization.You will cross-train inboth Neuro and Spine, and float between both service lines.This position offers an exceptional opportunity to expand your clinicalexpertise, work alongside experienced surgicalprofessionalsand continuously build your skills while making a meaningful impact on every patient you serve.
A caregiver in this position worksdays from 7:00AM – 3:30PMor 10:00AM – 8:30PM,with on-call requirements.Orientation will take place for three to six months from 7:00AM – 3:30PM, Monday-Friday.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform scrub functions andassistin circulating functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Set up the sterile table and ensureappropriate supplies, drugs and equipment are available.
AssistRN in counting all sponges, instruments, etc. atappropriate timesduring surgery.
Assistin gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients.
Ensure aseptic condition ismaintainedby the scrubbed surgical team through the procedure.
Participate in the intraoperative “timeout.”
Collect,identifyand label specimens removed during surgical procedures andgivespecimens tocirculatorfor disposition.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program, accredited through Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
ORcompletionof military surgical technology program will meet the educational requirements of an accredited Surgical Technology Program
Certification of either CST or TS-Crequiredfor candidates who have not completed an accredited Surgical Technology program:Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)ORCertified Tech in Surgery (TS-C) through the National Center for Competency Training (NCCT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions of working irregular hours.
- Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $28.50
Maximum hourly: $39.00
