Job Description
Summary
The Huffington Department of Education, Innovation and Technology’s Center for Educational Outreach (CEO) at Baylor College of Medicine seeks an individual to support science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEM+M) educational events and related research. This is a part-time position.
Baylor’s Center for Educational Outreach (Center), established in 1996, engages and prepares students in grades K–16 to meet national needs for a diverse and well-prepared STEM + M workforce while also increasing STEM literacy within the general populace. The Center provides in-person and web-based education and resources for teachers, students, and the public—all designed to improve science skills and literacy across the K–16 continuum and increase opportunities for underrepresented populations to access careers in medicine, science, and the health professions.
The Center is currently seeking a part-time individual to assist in a review of the STEM+M educational research literature and support the efforts of our STEM+M Planning Institutes.
Job Duties
- Assist in a systematic literature review of STEM+M education research by reviewing titles, abstracts, and manuscripts for appropriate content (significant contributors will receive authorship credit for the resulting review publication)

• Support the Summer STEM+M School Planning Institute by
o data entry and cleaning - Collects, compiles and analyzes data
- Documents results of experiments.
- Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of undergraduate coursework preferred
- Experience in reading academic journals (educational research journals preferred, but not required)
- Experience in academic writing preferred
- Must be able to work independently and manage time and work to meet deliverables and outcomes
- The position involves direct engagement with individuals from Baylor College of Medicine and the community.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with all stakeholders via face-to-face interactions, electronic and web-based communications
