Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a Solutions Architect (User Experience) to support modernization of our endpoint ecosystem and improvement of the overall user computing experience. The Solutions Architect (User Experience) designs and guides modern endpoint solutions, unifies cross-team workflows, integrates AI and automation, and advances telemetry-driven operations that help identify and prevent issues before they impact mission work. In this role, you may work on assignments of moderate scope and complexity, develop recommendations to improve user experience, and contribute to modernization initiatives across the desktop environment.
On any given day you may be called on to:
- Architect User Centered Endpoint Solutions: Analyze user feedback and system requirements to recommend architectural enhancements that improve workflows, usability, and endpoint interactions. Contribute to experience roadmaps and ensure proposed solutions align with mission needs and technical constraints.
- Evolve Endpoint Architecture & Ecosystem: Support and refine endpoint configurations, baselines, patching, and software deployment processes. Evaluate new technologies, COTS/open-source options, and architectural patterns; provide recommendations that strengthen reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Integrate AI, Automation & Telemetry into Architectural Designs: Use telemetry insights and device health indicators to identify system trends and architectural gaps. Recommend AI enabled and automated capabilities that optimize triage, reduce defects, and improve overall system performance.
- Develop Architectural Dashboards & Metrics: Collaborate with partners to build and refine dashboards and KPIs that accurately represent endpoint reliability, experience quality, and system health. Use these metrics to inform architectural decisions and communicate performance trends.
- Strengthen Operational Architecture & Process Effectiveness: Support daily endpoint operations by recommending architectural refinements, workflow adjustments, and updates to documentation and standards. Help maintain accurate representations of system capabilities within catalogs and lifecycle plans.
- Coordinate Across Information System Domains: Work with cross disciplinary teams including networking, security, conferencing, and mission partners to ensure architectural alignment and effective system interfaces. Provide technical guidance and represent architectural direction in discussions involving tools, workflows, and system changes.
- Advance Continuous Architectural Improvement: Analyze telemetry, surveys, and performance data to identify areas for architectural enhancement. Recommend adjustments to baselines, patching strategies, and lifecycle planning while balancing performance, cost, schedule, and risk.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Occasional travel (10%) will be required.
