XREV interactive visualizations are designed to address engineering design & problem-solving by collaborating with engineers to create tailored user-interfaces/user-experiences that are specific to project needs. By design, XREV provides engineers the ability to interact with their multidisciplinary data simultaneously, to enable faster problem-solving, to streamline training and onboarding, and to preserve engineering knowledge in a centralized, accessible format.
The XREV team directly supports teams addressing some of the nation's most difficult challenges in the areas of Nuclear Deterrence and other critical National Security technologies. Utilization of Artificial Intelligence methods and software engineering are key enablers of the extended reality technical work.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Develop new and innovative modules to expand the XREV capabilities
- Utilize Unity Game Engine and associate software as the software foundation underlying the technical visualizations and models
- Evaluate incorporation of the latest AI capabilities into the Unity platform
- Engage with customers to design new visualizations and work with the technical engineers to define the desired UI/UX and underlying capabilities
- Develop a standard/generic component/system with respect to CAD models, requirements, product definition, test data that will become the quality basis for XREV capabilities
- Understand and address existing and emerging digital threads within and external to Sandia, drive collaboration across the National Security Enterprise and other technology areas within Sandia
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$117,500 - $235,700

- Experience leading interdisciplinary teams and engaging internal and external stakeholders of varying responsibility.
About Our Team:
In the Virtual Technologies & Engineering Department, we enable integrated digital engineering solutions that utilize Artificial Intelligence to increase innovation and reduce product delivery time for Nuclear Deterrence and other National Security design, production, and sustainment needs.
Our extended Reality Engineering Visualization (XREV) team enables interactive data knowledge, data understanding, and visualizations for data analysis to answer engineering questions at the desktop or in virtual reality or augmented reality collaborations across Nuclear Security Enterprise sites.
We have a mature Model-Based Design capability team that utilizes reduced-order physics models and simulations to predict failure modes, assess environmental conditions, and speed up design cycles by reducing the number of builds/tests through simulation-enhanced design.
Our Digital Thread Engineering team (DTE) develops and maintains data exchange and data flow connections and integrations between Digital Engineering datasets, databases, data tools, and models used at Sandia as well as gateway connectivity from Sandia to the Enterprise-level digital platform to enable Digital Transformation at Sandia and the NSE.
