Job Description
Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.Experience (2+ years) administering enterprise servers running Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, etc.)
Proficiency with programming and/or scripting languages (i.e., Python, Powershell, JavaScript, SQL, C++, etc.)
General understanding and experience in web and software development (web frameworks, frontend architecture, databases, etc.)
Experience in desktop and end-user support of Windows, MacOS, and Linux systems
Experience identifying process improvement opportunities and designing solutions to satisfy academic, research, and/or business needs; generate documentation; determine customer’s needs, and deliver solutions in a timely manner.
Ability to troubleshoot and maintain services such as mail, NFS, network routing, LDAP, databases, web, etc.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, remain on a project timeline, and coordinate activities between projects, but able to pivot and prioritize as needed to meet goals and immediate needs.
Demonstrated strong written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science or related field OR equivalent work experience.
Experience working in an academic environment.
Experience administering enterprise backup solutions.
Computer hardware troubleshooting/replacement.
Experience in database administration and configuration (MySQL, PostGres, Oracle, etc.)
Experience in making product evaluations and purchase recommendations.
Understanding of common IT security protocols and remediation techniques.
Job Description
Acts as the technical intermediary between the department computer user and Information Systems and Services to address various needs and purposes.
Job Duties
Configure and deploy research systems for faculty, ensuring they meet the specific needs of academic projects.
Maintain and deploy backup solutions, manage users, network configurations, automate systems, and ensure systems’ security.
Perform administrative tasks, including grant-writing, inventory management, and reporting.
Assist with the content maintenance of the main departmental website.
Evaluate, specify, and recommend software and hardware to support and improve the department’s computing needs.
