Job Description
Job SummaryMICOM (Michigan Integrated Modeling and Outbreak Management) seeks a meticulous and innovative Technology Project Lead where you'll be at the center of an ambitious collaboration, working directly with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and the Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) - the backbone of Michigan's state IT operations. Together, you'll help develop and implement secure, compliant data systems and analytics frameworks to enhance the state's response to infectious disease emergencies and ongoing health challenges while supervising a development team.
Your expertise will empower public health experts and technical teams alike, ensuring that all MICOM solutions meet the highest standards for security, privacy, and regulatory compliance across agencies. You'll architect systems for robust data integration and real-time analytics, translating complex federal, state, and institutional requirements into actionable safeguards. Whether supporting rapid response initiatives or routine infectious disease surveillance, you'll be crucial in enabling reliable data sharing, safeguarding sensitive information, and optimizing workflows between MDHHS and DTMB.

Responsibilities*
Develop secure cloud environments to support research and instructional needs. Oversee cloud and compliance-related projects from requirements gathering to implementation and review.
Implement architectures for scalability, performance, and security across cloud platforms
Provide technical leadership for cloud-based research projects and services.
Lead audits and risk assessments related to research technology.
Advise faculty, staff, and students on technology best practices and compliance issues.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience
4+ years experience in a similar role requiring organization and prioritization
Experience processing large datasets using Pandas
Experience developing a Python web backend in a framework similar to Django
Understanding of basic SQL using MySQL, Oracle or Postgres. Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or other related technologies
