What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a General Technologist for our Digital and Quality Engineering organization. The Independent Quality Oversight (IQO)/QualOps team meticulously witness the assembly, disassembly, and testing of components and systems, diligently documenting essential data to uphold the integrity of our processes. Their efforts culminate in the delivery of the final as-run procedure to our customers, serving as the definitive source of truth and pedigree. On any given day, one may be called upon to:
- Establish and implement inspections before systems are processed or installed
- Monitor work practices; ensures that corrective actions are implemented
- Work with engineering and development during new product or facility start-ups and implements key checkpoints for new products and processes
- Handle the acceptability of labeling and packaging materials; maintain an inspection and approval system
- Read blueprints and specifications to ensure products meet standards
- Use gadgets to measure products (e.g., micrometer screw gauges)
- Accept or reject finished products and discuss inspection results with team
- Review, maintain, update and process technical work documents and work instructions during and after builds or products or assemblies.
Salary Range:
$74,700 - $144,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- A High School diploma, plus 3 years directly related experience; or equivalent experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the ability to perform the job
- Experience with electrical or mechanical design, assembly, repair, and installation processes
- Parts and Component Inspection experience
- Experience with ISO9001 and or AS9100
- A current DOE L or Q level security clearance to start, or equivalent
- Ability to travel
Qualifications We Desire:
- BS in electrical or mechanical engineering, or other relevant degree
- Knowledge of Sandia National Laboratory's test and measurement, and inspection policies, practices, and procedures
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical components; the ability to determine value, markings, and proper orientation
- Knowledge of mechanical assembly practices
- Experience with ordinance installation and handling practices
- Explosives Fielding Assembler Training
- Experience with frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
- Experience with preparation and presentation of test and measurement results
- Knowledge of a wide range of flight systems operating from subsonic through hypersonic flight regimes
- A familiarity of Sandia process and practices
- Green Belt certification training
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop, author, and maintain policies, plans, and procedures
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced production environment
- Demonstrated ability to team with others to produce successful outcomes.
- The ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) L security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
