Job Summary
Salt Lake Community College seeks a full-time faculty to join a vital and innovative department as its members are reflective practitioners and knowledgeable teachers in their respective fields. They participate in their professional communities and collaborate with colleagues in developing curriculum. Such faculty members actively serve our students in successfully obtaining the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in their careers.
The faculty will work in a multi-modal program serving students in scheduled classes, open lab instruction, and off-site clinical rotations. This will include variable shifts in a Monday through Saturday work week between the hours of 6am to 11pm.
The instructor will provide instruction in the training courses offered through the Practical Nursing program using a variety of teaching methods and media to meet different learning styles to prepare students for certification and employment in healthcare settings. In addition to instruction the faculty will be involved in development of new curriculum, updating existing curriculum, mentor adjunct faculty, fulfill departmental and school assignments, and maintain all required department and school meetings.
The successful candidate will need to adapt to a variety of teaching situations, locations, and have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff and others in a way that promotes professionalism and understanding.

All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences.

Faculty are required to maintain professional boundaries with all SLCC students.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide effective student-centered instruction and assessment.
Alongside department colleagues, build a process of continuous quality improvement for relevant programs.
Comply with all college employee policies and procedures.
Comply with the Academic Freedom, Professional Responsibility, and Tenure policy.
Comply with FERPA policy and other pertinent local, state, and federal regulations.
Maintain professional communication etiquette with students.
Become a contributing member of the academic unit by engaging in collegial communications and working closely with colleagues and academic supervisors to enhance student success.
Maintain a meaningful on-campus presence to enhance community, serve students on campus, and collaborate with colleagues. Campus presence can reflect teaching, professional activities, and/or service as established with your academic supervisor.
Work to address student issues as outlined in the Code of Students Rights and Responsibilities.
Engage in shared governance.
Engage in and contribute to curriculum development and/or process.
Establish and maintain teaching and assessment resources to support performance-based hands-on assignments that mimic industry.
Support students in the completion of the program, passing licensure exam, and job placement.
Engage in course and program assessment, including a comparison of program costs, completion rates, job placement, and licensure data with other USHE institutions, with the aim of enhancing student success, employment outcomes, and maintaining accreditation standards.
In collaboration with administration, assist with collecting data metrics such as completion, placement, and licensure information.
Engage in the faculty evaluation process annually.
Attend, and participate in, required meetings and events, including Convocation, Commencement, SLCC 360, and department meetings.
Promote the mission, vision, values, and goals of the College through inclusive teaching, professional activity, and service.
Faculty in SLTECH work on a 12-month staff calendar schedule. The expectation is a 40-hour work week with 30 Instructional Workload hours
Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities

Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university.
Must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Utah and in good standing with the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing.
Minimum of three (3) years recent successful full-time paid clinical experience in a health care facility.
