Job Description
Responsibilities:80% Designing, planning, and carrying out experiments in mouse colony and research oversight.
• Mouse tissue isolation, staining for immunofluorescence, microscopy
• DNA/RNA/Protein isolation, PCR, RT-qPCR
• Computational and data analysis
• Mouse surgery and behavior
• Mouse genotyping
• Analyzing and reporting research data.
10% Compliance, Safety, and Maintenance
• Perform general lab management.
• Perform routine laboratory cleanup.
• Replenish supplies as needed and ensure laboratories are properly prepared for experiments.
• Handle, segregate, and remove hazardous, biological, and chemical waste in compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
10% Communication and Reporting
• Work closely with academic and industry partners (including biotech collaborators) to advance translational milestones
• Present research findings at lab meetings and scientific conferences
• Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant applications, and technical reports
Qualifications
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required Qualifications:
• BS/BA in Biology, Neuroscience, or related field and at least four years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience to equal eight years.
• Rodent handling skills
• Hands-on experience with molecular biology procedures (DNA, RNA, Protein isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blot)
• Previous experience working in a laboratory or research setting
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Ability to work well within the lab group and with collaborators
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with in-vivo animal research – stereotaxic surgery, AAV injections, implantation
• Coordinate / collaborate transgenic rodent lines
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Competence with analysis software to include Matlab, R, GraphPad Prism, Adobe Illustrator and FIJI/Image J
• Independent research projects, including extensive reading, experimental design, and execution.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $29.74 - 35.69/hr; depending on education/qualifications/experience
