The School of Professional Studies at Texas Tech University Online invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Lecturer position in Computing Applications to begin Spring 2026.

This position is assigned to the online teaching of 8-week courses that are offered as part of five 8-week terms, scheduled throughout the year (two in the fall, two in the spring, and one in the summer) to provide better flexibility to non-traditional students that represent a significant part of the online student population at Texas Tech University. All courses in these 8-week terms are offered asynchronously.

While appointed to this position, you will accrue vacation and will be required to report leave monthly following TTU’s Operating Policy 70.01 and TTU System Regulation 07.12. The faculty of Professional Studies is dedicated to supporting students’ skills by integrating multiple knowledge bases essential for navigating the complex and interconnected challenges of today’s world, particularly those that involve multiple disciplines. The curricula and programs in Professional Studies prepare students to address the interdisciplinary challenges requiring a holistic approach emphasizing creativity, collaboration, and life-long learning for personal and career development.


Major/Essential Functions

At Texas Tech University, the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer title designates a full-time, non-tenure-acquiring role with primary duties in teaching organized classes and/or instructional labs. In line with TTU’s strategic priorities to engage and empower a dynamic student body, applicants should have experience working with a breadth of student populations at the undergraduate level.

As a faculty member in the School of Professional Studies, you will be expected to:
1. Teaching & Instruction

Deliver high-quality instruction in Computing Applications courses across the program's three emphasis areas: Web and Software Development, Product Design and Management, and Information Organization and Management.

Teach undergraduate courses in an asynchronous, online format using 8-week accelerated semesters, ensuring that student engagement and learning outcomes are met.

Create and manage online course content that reflects current online computing practices, modern tools, and contemporary workflows in creative and technical fields.

Facilitate asynchronous discussions and learning activities that promote student engagement, technical and creative thinking, and applied problem-solving in online computing contexts.

Assess student work on assignments, projects, and coursework, providing feedback that fosters growth in both the creative and technical dimensions of online computing.

2. Student Support

Support students through a variety of online communication channels to foster an accessible and responsive learning environment.

Mentor and advise students on academic progress, project work, and career paths in computing-related fields.

3. Curriculum & Collaboration

Update and refine course materials to ensure alignment with evolving online computing technologies, industry practices, and program learning outcomes.

Collaborate with University and faculty leadership, faculty colleagues, and instructional designers to sustain and improve course quality and advance program goals.

Integrate current online computing technologies, tools, theories, and practices into online asynchronous instruction to enhance student learning and maintain curriculum relevance.

4. Program & Professional Development

Maintain active engagement with developments in online computing, web technologies, digital product design, information management, and related fields, with a genuine commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

Contribute to program assessment, continuous improvement, and accreditation activities for the Computing Applications program and the School of Professional Studies.

5. Service & Administrative

Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and service activities at the program, School, and University levels.
