Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and one year of experience in a public health, medical, clinical or research laboratory. An equivalent combination of education or experience may be considered.

The University of South Alabama’s Colle of Medicine’s Physiology and Cell Biology department is seeking to hire a Research Technologist II. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Conducts physical, chemical and biological analyses requiring considerable knowledge of associated properties and characteristics of specimens used.
Participates in collecting, recording, and preparing laboratory specimens and cultures for research experiments.
Assists in the planning of experimental protocols, interprets data, and prepares reports of findings under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI).
Performs molecular biology procedures, including DNA and RNA extraction from biological samples, PCR, plasmid amplification, immunoblotting, and immunoprecipitation.
Maintains inventory records of laboratory equipment and orders supplies as needed.
Supports basic laboratory experiments and assists the lab staff.
Supervises and trains laboratory assistants and lower level technical positions.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
Related duties as required.
