Research Technician II/III/IV - Myositis Clinical Testing

Position Overview & Responsibilities
The Clinical Immunology Laboratory at OMRF is a nationally recognized referral center specializing in complex autoantibody testing to support the diagnosis and management of autoimmune rheumatic diseases, with a focus on systemic lupus, Sjogren's disease, systemic sclerosis, vasculitis, and inflammatory myositis. We are seeking a conscientious, detail-oriented, and highly motivated individual to join our team and contribute to high-complexity testing efforts. This role involves both technical expertise and the ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative research and clinical environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying myositis-specific and myositis-associated autoantibodies and must be comfortable adhering to CAP and University Radioactivity guidelines. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform high-complexity immunologic assays including tissue culture, western blotting, immunoprecipitation (with emphasis on RNA immunoprecipitation), electrophoresis, and autoradiography
- Analyze and interpret laboratory results to aid in diagnostic and prognostic assessments
- Accurately record findings and maintain detailed records in a standard database
- Ensure all laboratory work aligns with CAP and University Radioactivity safety standards
- Maintain laboratory equipment and contribute to daily operational functions
- Work independently while maintaining strong communication and coordination with the lab team
Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS/MLT degree typically in one of the biological sciences, physics, or chemistry, or equivalent years of professional, relevant laboratory experience
- Basic knowledge of Internet software and Microsoft Office software
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to write reports and correspondence
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to perform precise and accurate work
- Effective communication skills with coworkers and supervisors
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years of relevant laboratory bench experience
- Fluency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or other professional licensure in a related field
Work Hours
- Typically, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- Must be willing to work occasional overtime, including after hours, weekends, and holidays
