What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking an Engineering Program/Project Lead to play a key role in developing, planning, and delivering solutions to improve and secure a cutting-edge nuclear weapons supply chain.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Plan and direct engineering and technical projects for internal and external customers.
  • Define system and subsystem requirements, project scope, schedules, cost estimates, and products that support mission objectives.
  • Arrange reports with external customers and partners, build and lead teams, and organizes resources to implement scope.
  • Apply standard principles and advanced Project Management techniques and tools.
  • Calculate, analyze variances, and make project decisions applying Earned Value Management System.
  • Create and manage schedules at the highest level and ensure that the organization is executing to said schedules in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Manage project resources, objectives, and changes according to the project management plan.
  • Identify and coordinate with customers and program managers to ensure resources are available to accomplish production.
  • Oversee project teams in the planning, inquiry, and execution of project plans from initiation to completion.
  • Build and lead technical teams to identify potential project risks, develop risk mitigation strategies and corrective actions, and recommend risk acceptance or avoidance for all aspects of the project.
  • Collaborate with customer requirements and limitations.
  • Conduct technical and program reviews to report status of cost, schedule, and performance to management and customers.
  • Work with other NSE sites to coordinate the delivery of materials across sites.
  • Deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Conduct project postmortems and applies lessons learned for process improvement.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant subject area, plus five years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area plus one year of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE-issued ‘Q’ clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • PMP or LSS Black Belt Certified
  • Leadership skills to include a successfully develop and deliver organizational critical initiatives (planning, organizing, leading and monitoring).
  • Experience in gathering and analyzing data; facilitating decision making/problem solving that requires scientific and/or engineering judgment.
  • Experience in supply chain risk management; identifying and generating metrics, parameterizing, prioritizing, developing responses and tracking risk.
  • Possesses a well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent oral and technical writing skills; with an ability to develop and present ideas/results in oral and written form.
  • Ability to build and collaborate with partnerships across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience in the application of Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools.

About Our Team:

The Purchased Product Value Stream Department is responsible for purchased products and logistic operations in support of Sandia National Laboratories production mission activities. Major areas of responsibility include 1) Materials Planning is responsible for developing the plan and authorizes procurement of production materials based on master schedule requirements: 2) Purchased Product Engineering is responsible for purchased products, including raw materials, tooling and end item components; serving as the liaison to design, product, and process engineers, production users, and suppliers in the areas of design definition, coordination of fabrication, and acceptance requirements; 3) Inventory Management & Logistics provides services in inventory management, materials movement, receiving, and shipping; and 4) Change Configuration Management Cell manages the execution of product configuration in the Sandia drawing system and the Oracle manufacturing system for the Production Center. 5) Master Planning is responsible for setting the schedules and the entire execution for the entire Enterprise.
