Summary

Assists the Laboratory Director or Principal Investigator in administering a Baylor College of Medicine laboratory. Provides professional guidance and technical support to faculty and principal investigators.

Job Duties

  • Organizeand maintainlab space, reagents, samples, and machines, establishand compliance of lab etiquette, procedures, and conduct for basic and scientific operation, organizeand supervise individual lab duties and communication tools
  • Orientation planning and training schedule for new members, competency assessment and compliance in general lab practices and techniques
  • Establishand compliance to lab record keeping, data storage, and reporting protocols
  • Scientific SOP development for commonly used assays
  • Inclusion and scientific input into ongoing and future projects
  • Supervision of technicians and fellows to meet study needs
  • Assistwith data analysis and assessment
  • Benchwork for high-profile study needs
  • Consultation on project timelines, study design, assay troubleshooting, assay limitations, and study feasibility
  • Project and Grant Support
  • Project reports, finding summaries, or when applicable presentation of materials, manuscript and grant section preparation, writing, and editing services where applicable, involvement in non-clinical research grant work
  • Collaboration or core facility service searches and introductions based on project or lab needs

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree ina Basic Scienceor related field.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Teamwork/collaboration, customer service, communication and analytical thinking/problem solving.
