Summary
Assists the Laboratory Director or Principal Investigator in administering a Baylor College of Medicine laboratory. Provides professional guidance and technical support to faculty and principal investigators.
Job Duties
- Organizeand maintainlab space, reagents, samples, and machines, establishand compliance of lab etiquette, procedures, and conduct for basic and scientific operation, organizeand supervise individual lab duties and communication tools
- Orientation planning and training schedule for new members, competency assessment and compliance in general lab practices and techniques
- Establishand compliance to lab record keeping, data storage, and reporting protocols
- Scientific SOP development for commonly used assays
- Inclusion and scientific input into ongoing and future projects
- Supervision of technicians and fellows to meet study needs
- Assistwith data analysis and assessment
- Benchwork for high-profile study needs
- Consultation on project timelines, study design, assay troubleshooting, assay limitations, and study feasibility
- Project and Grant Support
- Project reports, finding summaries, or when applicable presentation of materials, manuscript and grant section preparation, writing, and editing services where applicable, involvement in non-clinical research grant work
- Collaboration or core facility service searches and introductions based on project or lab needs
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree ina Basic Scienceor related field.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Teamwork/collaboration, customer service, communication and analytical thinking/problem solving.
