Job Description

Summary

Baylor College of Medicine's Occupational Health Program is actively recruiting for a Medical Assistant II. The MA works as part of the clinic team to ensure that prompt and appropriate care is provided to our patient population.

 

This position is outpatient only, but does provide services on different parts of the campus at times. 

Job Duties

  • Provides health services to employees and students of BCM.
  • Collects patient/employee information and compiles medical data to support clinic reporting and record keeping.
  • Administers vaccinations and TB tests.
  • Performs routine patient care responsibilities, including taking vital signs.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of employee records, accident reports.
  • Responds to clinic requests and schedules patient appointments.
  • Notes the primary complaint/reason for the patients visit.
  • Conducts patient outreach phone calls and e-mails.
  • Gains understanding the different work environments across campus to help provide appropriate health services.
  • Collects payments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP, or AMCA).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and comfort with this population is helpful.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office, other basic computer software)
  • Experience administering vaccinations and TB tests.
  • Comfortable using video conferencing, e-mail and phone applications.
