Job Description
The Department of Dermatology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) invites applicants to join our Basic Science Research Group. The candidate will develop and lead a tissue repository core procurement initiative within the Department.The candidate will be joining a vibrant skin disease research community that emphasizes the integration of basic and clinical research, is highly engaged with clinical trials and dedicated to outstanding patient care and teaching. Current research interests in the Department of Dermatology include (but not limited to): skin immunology, epidermal differentiation, skin stem cells, signal transduction, skin cancer (both non-melanoma and melanoma), mouse models of skin cancer, immuno-oncology, complex organotypic skin modelling, and autoimmune/autoinflammatory and inherited skin diseases including alopecia areata, epidermolysis bullosa, hidradenitis suppurativa and atopic dermatitis.
The tissue repository will facilitate basic and translational research endeavors by procuring and storing both diseased and normal tissues, with the associated clinical data. The key roles of the candidate will be to standardize specimen collections by providing and following standard operating procedures for patient consenting, protection and privacy of patient personal and clinical data, specimen procurement and processing, secured specimen storage, retrieval, distribution, and provision of relevant de-identified clinical data.
