Job Description

Summary

The Dang Laboratory at the Huffington Center on Aging, Baylor College of Medicine investigates the roles of epigenetics and chromatin dynamics in regulating aging, with an emphasis on cellular aging and mammalian adult stem cell aging. They are looking for a research technician with basic knowledge in biology and some hands-on experience in molecular biology and cellular biology laboratories.

Job Duties

  • Plans and conducts research experiments.
  • Evaluates data generated from experiments.
  • Acquires and implements novel technologies for research projects.
  • Conducts literature search and summarize information in an appropriate format.
  • Engages in collaborations based on lab's research interests and expertise.
  • Participates in lab management and maintenance.
  • Works on specific type of experiments that includes but not limited to yeast cell culture, genetic manipulations and screens, yeast phenotype and replicative lifespan assays, mammalian cell culture, serial passaging, and cellular senescence assays, mammalian cell transfection, RNAi knockdown, CRISPR knockout, and selection.
  • Prepares lentivirus constructs for RNAi and CRISPR.
  • Works on DNA, RNA, protein and chromatin extraction, western blotting.
  • Works on sequencing library preparation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences
  • Research laboratory experience is a plus.
