Organizational Unit Overview
The College of Engineering and Technology (CET) is home to four departments: Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Management, and Technology Systems and the Center for Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering (CSE3). The College maintains excellent laboratory facilities for instruction and research. There are many opportunities for interdisciplinary research collaborations with the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences, Brody School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, College of Allied Health Sciences, College of Health and Human Performance, College of Business, the Coastal Studies Institute and Integrated Coastal Programs.
Job Duties
This is a full time, 9-month, tenure track position in the Department of Engineering at the assistant professor level. The primary emphasis areas for engineering faculty are teaching excellence in the undergraduate Engineering program, service to develop the quality and reputation of the Engineering program and contributing to the research mission of the university. Active involvement in outreach to industry is highly valued. Candidates should be committed to innovation and creativity in engineering education methods and approaches. Candidates must be able to work in multi-disciplinary research teams and are encouraged to affiliate with the Center for Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering and/or other academic units and centers across the university. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in electrical engineering or related engineering discipline. Those with professional, research and/or teaching experience in areas such as energy storage technologies and renewable energy, artificial intelligence and machine learning, power systems, power electronics, control systems design, remote sensing and sensor integration are especially sought. Teaching assignments may include core undergraduate engineering courses, electrical engineering concentration courses and courses in the mechanical engineering graduate program. Successful candidates are expected to achieve success in teaching; establish a collaborative research program, secure funding, advise graduate students; and contribute to service activities in the department and the engineering profession.

Minimum Education/Experience
Candidates must hold a terminal degree in electrical engineering or a related field from a regionally accredited institution or a foreign equivalent, and demonstrate the potential for teaching excellence and strong scholarly productivity at ECU. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Candidates with a doctorate degree conferred at the time of initial appointment will hold the rank of Assistant Professor upon initial probationary term appointment. Candidates who have completed all but their dissertation (ABD) will be initially appointed with the probationary term rank of Assistant Professor and must have the terminal degree conferred prior to their first reappointment in addition to providing evidence of high-quality teaching and the development of a collaborative research agenda.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Familiarity with engineering education and student success strategies. Knowledge of continuous improvement processes and ABET accreditation requirements. Experience with, enthusiasm for, and demonstrated success in interdisciplinary collaboration. Experience in grant preparation and obtaining external funding. A record of scholarship including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. Industry experience and registration as a Professional Engineer.
