The Dental College of Georgia is seeking candidates for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor who will have an administrative post of Program Director (PD). The main responsibility and focus of this position is the education and training of the OMFS interns and residents. The PD is primarily and directly responsible for the: Development and oversight of the mission, goals, and objectives for the program; Development and implementation of a curriculum plan; Resident/intern selection; Ensuring ongoing evaluation of resident/intern performance and attending faculty teaching effort; Evaluation of the teaching program and faculty supervision in affiliated institutions if such affiliations exist now or in the future; Maintenance of records related to the educational program, including written instructional objectives and course outlines; Overall continuity and quality of patient care as it relates to the program; Ongoing planning, evaluation, and improvement of the quality of the program; Preparation of graduates for certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; Ensuring a formal evaluation of attending faculty members occurs at least annually to assess their performance within this program and that a written record of the evaluation is prepared and maintained. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position.
Responsibilities
Teaching - 65%
-Teaching (concurrent and not concurrent with patient care)
-Participate in post-graduate trainee (OMFS and other specialties) educational curriculum that includes preparation and delivery of presentations during grand rounds, facilitate and direct discussions during weekly case conferences, Morbidity and Mortality Conference, Journal club and during daily encounters with trainees
-Teaching/supervising residents in a clinical setting
-Educational administration (e.g., serving as a program course director)
-Mentoring of residents in clinical settings
Research/Scholarship - 10%
-Acquire all required training and skills (including but not limited to CITI, IRB etc.) to participate in and conduct clinical research in conjunction with other collaborators within the DCG-AU, AU at large as well as other institutions and/or independently.
-Present abstracts, deliver presentations, either research originated/related or other educational material (clinics etc. at the annual AAOMS scientific meeting and/or scientific meetings (i.e. ACOMS, AACMFS, ADA, local chapters etc.)
-Mentor and supervise residents in clinical research activities
-Publish in peer reviewed journals on a consistent basis, with a minimum of one manuscript per year
Service - 5%
-Serve as member at committees within the DCG-AU, AU at large, within AAOMS, ABOMS and local professional chapters
-Participate, Develop and Direct CE courses
-Maintain professional licenses and certifications for clinical practice
Clinical/Patient Care - 20%
-Participate in the AUDA Practice Group
-Develop own faculty practice within area of interest/expertise
-Provide clinical care to patients while demonstrating technical skills and teaching both post-graduate trainees and dental students.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
DDS or DMD degree from a CODA accredited dental school and be eligible for board certification or be board-certified (Diplomates) by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). The candidate must possess or be able to obtain an appropriate license for clinical practice in the State of Georgia. The candidate must also have Georgia Anesthesia Permit, DEA, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
Other Required Qualifications
Candidates must be either ABOMS eligible or ABOMS diplomates Fellowship trained individuals must demonstrate appropriate training with supporting surgical log and certificate of completion of fellowship signed by the fellowship director. Fellowship Director or equivalent authority must sign off on trainee's competency in the fellowship specific procedures to support credentialing and hospital privileges. Additional degrees such as MS, MPH, MBA etc. are highly desirable.

Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
' Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
' Evidence of ability as a teacher;
' Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
' Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
' Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
DDS/DMD degree from an accredited college or university (or foreign equivalent); active unrestricted license in another state or be eligible for licensure by the Georgia Board of Dentistry.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
