The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, we provide dental education to the next generation of professionals by offering hands-on education through innovative research, patient care, and service. Join other dental providers to improve the oral health of Georgia and beyond. The DCG was founded to provide the people of Georgia with quality dental care by educating students in dentistry. As a patient, you have the option to receive treatment in one of our three different practice models consisting of student clinics, resident care, or in the faculty practice. All dental treatments can be completed by the specialists in our facility. We also serve patients in more than 20 clinics across Georgia.

Job Summary

Repair, calibrate, and maintain medical/dental equipment, instrumentation, and support systems used in dental healthcare delivery. Inspect, install, and perform Inventory assessments and preventive maintenance of medical/dental equipment. Train dental providers, faculty, residents, students, and staff in the operation of the equipment in the DCG facilities.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections, inventory, and equipment repairs, and failures.
  • Assist with and evaluate third-party repairs.
  • Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections, inventory, and equipment repairs and failures.
  • Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems. Review outcome of preventive maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements.
  • Provide technical assistance and instruction to personnel regarding equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Analyze new medical/dental equipment and provide recommendations regarding the purchase of new equipment.
  • All other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Technical school training in biomedical equipment technology/related field (electronics. pneumatics, telecommunications, etc.).

Five years' relevant experience

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or biomedical equipment technology. CBET (Certification- Biomedical Equipment Technician). Experience with AU standards and regulations. Previous medical or dental experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES

Knowledge of technical aspects of electronic equipment and its operation, repair and maintenance; the application and repair of computers and how they interface with medical/dental equipment; current regulatory requirements; basic anatomy and physiology as applied to use of biomedical equipment; color code conventions used in component and wiring marking. Ability to: analyze, repair, and test electronic and technical equipment; perform preventive maintenance inspections; run diagnostic programs: interpret schematics. wiring diagrams, and illustrated parts drawings of biomedical instrumentation, maintain accurate records of repairs, calibration, and tests. Skill in testing electronic equipment.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: 15

Salary: Minimum $38,913.00/Annually - $52,533.00/Annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
