To develop and continue a robust research program aimed at generating new insights into the molecular genetics, cognitive sciences and neuroimmunology in the field of Dental Medicine and oral diseases. This particular hire is expected to develop a research program geared toward application of molecular biology, cognitive neuroscience and genetics in the context of aging and inflammaging, especially in term of neurodegeneration and behavior disruption initiated through oral cavity and chronic oral diseases. This is a limited-term, non-tenure track grant paid Assistant Professor faculty position at 1.0 FTE which is for one year and may possibly be renewed an additional year given grant funding.
Responsibilities
Scholarship - 99%
Conduct independent research as well as research in collaboration with other faculty within the Dental College of Georgia as well as develop an extramurally-funded research program.
Services - 1%
Engage in service activities as needed by the department, college, institution.
Required Qualifications
PhD in biological sciences or neuroscience.
Display a productive record of established scholarship of national and international significance in cognitive neuroscience.
Candidates will demonstrate a record of, or potential for: 1: publications in impactful journals; 2) success in obtaining individual and collaborative extramural funding.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
' Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
' Evidence of ability as a teacher;
' Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
' Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
' Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications
PI/CO-I on NIH grant in field of age-related diseases.
PhD in neurobiology.
Genetics, physiology, behavior, study of learning memory, emotion, synaptic plasticity, and neuroinjury. Preference will be given to those who have experience in vivo physiology, genetic manipulation of animal models and in vitro physiology.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
