Job Description
We are seeking to recruit an exceptional tenure-track faculty member with a Ph.D./MD at the rank of Assistant Professor at Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) and the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of OB/GYN and Reproductive Sciences.Applicants should demonstrate outstanding academic research productivity and an excellent current or promising funding track record. Opportunities exist for both wet- and dry-lab work. The research will be conducted at Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI). The candidate will be expected to conduct research in the general field of ovarian cancer immunology. They will be expected to contribute to the basic, translational, or clinical research within the field of reproductive sciences. They will also be expected to participate in general research activities at MWRI, including attending all joint conferences, assisting others in their research and grant applications, and helping to enhance the stature of MWRI in the scientific community. Finally, it is expected that within three years the candidate will be able to secure new grants and maintain sufficient extramural funding to cover the lab’s research costs.
The selected candidate will join our cross-disciplinary, collaborative environment of over 70 faculty members at the internationally recognized Magee-Womens Research Institute, one of the largest institutes dedicated to reproductive biology and women’s health. Research at the Institute centers on embryonic, fetal, and placental development, pregnancy, microbiology, gonadal biology, female and male fertility, gynecology, pelvic floor health, female cancer, health services, and wellness. Intense translational and clinical research bridges basic discoveries with mechanistic, diagnostic, and therapeutic applications. Our modern facility spans 125,000 sq ft of laboratories, core facilities, and animal research units. While participation in clinical activity is not required, it may be an option for clinician candidates.
The salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and responsibilities. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to scholarly activities and to teach graduate and post-graduate medical and Ph.D. trainees.
