Job Description

 

One Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the NIH funded laboratory of Dr. Mousumi Moulik, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in Divisions of Pediatric Cardiology and Genetics/Genomic Medicine in the Rangos Research Center in University of Pittsburgh/ UPMC, Pittsburgh, PA. The Moulik lab applies state-of-the-art molecular and cellular biology approaches to heart failure and cardiomyopathy research. The molecular focus of the investigations in our lab is on deciphering the signaling, transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms of stress induced cardiac remodeling. Specific focus is on the Circadian Clock and Hippo pathway. Model systems involve multiple transgenic mouse lines, cardiomyocyte primary cultures, translational studies on patient heart tissue, h-iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes. Techniques include cardiac surgical procedures in rodents, iPSC cultures, CRISPR/Cas9 editing, rodent cardiac phenotyping, Next Gen sequencing, advanced microscopy, multicolor flow and sorting, and a variety of molecular biology techniques involving proteins and nucleic acids.



We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with strong enthusiasm for basic and translational research in cardiac disease. Successful candidate will have at a minimum recent PhD in Molecular-Cellular Biology, Immunology, Molecular Genetics or highly related biomedical fields, demonstration of success in publications and presentation and familiarity or expertise with many of the techniques utilized in the lab. Expertise in genomic bioinformatics analysis is a plus.



The position will come with mentoring support from the PI for career development activities and postdoctoral fellowship/ career development grant submission. Salary for the position will follow NIH guidelines based on years of postdoctoral experience in the field of research.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:



PhD or equivalent in Molecular, Cellular Biology or Immunology or related fields.



Proficiency with biochemical techniques, molecular biology skills and cell culture systems.



Willingness to work with animals is an absolute prerequisite for this position.



Experience with in vivo animal model research preferred.



Experience with epigenetics research and bioinformatics analysis a plus.



Highly motivated with strong interest in cardiac disease research.



Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team.
