Position Description
The Goodrich laboratory (goodrich.med.harvard.edu) in the Department of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School is looking for an independent and motivated Research Assistant to assist in the study of nervous system development and function.

This individual will work under the supervision of a graduate student or post-doc to regularly
1) Handle mice and mouse tissue
2) Dissect and process tissue including confocal microscopy
3) Assess hearing in mice using physiological assays
4) Perform image and data analysis

The Research Assistant will have opportunities to learn and engage in scientific training. In addition to benchwork, the Research Assistant will support the daily activities of the laboratory by managing ordering and billing, ensuring safe practices in the workplace, and overseeing other aspects of lab management as requested by the P.I. The Research Assistant will be responsible for accurately recording experimental details and communicating effectively about work progress.
Basic Qualifications
College background and one year of related work experience (relevant course work may count toward some, but not all, required work experience).
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • A successful candidate will be responsible, focused, well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to work semi-independently and multi-task efficiently.
  • Familiarity with R, Python, and/or Imaris plus a strong working knowledge of molecular genetics and some experience with dissections preferred.
  • May be required to lift, move and transport related laboratory equipment. May be required to work with a variety of hazardous materials.
Additional Information
This is a 12-month term appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent on funding.

Offer contingent upon successful completion of a pre-placement medical evaluation.

This is an in-person position based on our campus in Boston.
