Assistant Teaching Professor of Animation
Ball State University

The School of Art invites applications for a non-tenure‐track Assistant Teaching Professor position in Animation beginning in August 2023.

Position Function: Specific courses include:
o ART 211 Traditional Animation
o ART 314 Animation: Experimental Techniques
o ART 315 Animation: Character Design
o ART 316 Animation: Storyboarding
o ART 411 Animation: Pre-Production
o ART 412 Animation: Compositing and Motion Graphics
o ART 490 Animation: Senior Project
o
• The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department, advise students, serve on committees, and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities
• Other teaching duties based on programmatic need and the expertise of the faculty hired individual may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Terminal degree (MFA, PhD) in animation, or equivalent degree from an accredited institution, or significant sustained industry experience in animation.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong understanding of Toonboom Harmony
• Strong understanding of Toonboom Storyboard Pro
• Strong understanding of Digital Painting
• Strong understanding of 2D Animation Techniques
• Strong understanding of Adobe Photoshop or Equivalent

Pay range minimum for this position: $50,000
