Job Description

Position Highlights:

The Clinic Access Supervisor provides supervisory oversight to the staff responsible for patient registration and scheduling functions in the hospital and clinics. The supervisor will assist in the interviewing, training, coaching and evaluation process for team members. The supervisor must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, challenging environment and overseeing the activities of many staff members in multiple clinic locations.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous Soarian and Cerner Capstone experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year as a lead or supervisor experience in patient access and/or revenue cycle is required.
  • Three (3) or more years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting and scheduling experience at Moffitt preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree and one (1) year relevant customer service, patient access and/or revenue cycle experience.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant customer service, patient access and/or revenue cycle experience is required. OR associate degree and three (3) years relevant customer service, patient access and/or revenue cycle experience is required. Or Bachelor's degree and one (1) year relevant customer service, patient access and/or revenue cycle experience is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year as a lead or supervisor experience in patient access and/or revenue cycle is required.

Responsibilities:

Supervise clinic-based access functions including registration/check-in, check-out, and scheduling based on provider orders.

  • Ensure accurate, timely, and complete information is gathered and input into revenue cycle systems.
  • Audit quality of team member work
  • Ensure adherence to all on-site Patient Access policies and procedures for the various departmental functions including registration, check-in, unscheduled financial clearance activities as appropriate, check-out, point-of-service (POS) cash collections, and follow-up scheduling; monitors the progress of the departments' short and long-term goals.

Identify and communicate issues, backlogs and opportunities that directly impact patient satisfaction, patient throughput and revenue capture.

  • Create, implement, and monitor processes to maximize patient experience, and streamline day-to-day operations improve financial performance.

 

Schedule team members and monitors staffing levels / team member productivity and quality.

  • Ensure efficient operations and appropriate employee utilization.
  • Reinforce quality and meeting of productivity standards with staff.

 

Ensure team members are accountable to Moffitt and Patient Access Policies, performing coaching and carrying out forms of disciplinary action when necessary. Create a collaborative and productive working environment.

  • Evaluate team members on performance. 
  • Work with department management to complete disciplinary action as required.
  • Create a work environment for employees through team building, coaching, constructive feedback, work delegation, personal example and goal setting that encourages creativity, open dialogue on work issues, professional growth, and a consistent, high level of performance.
  • Encourage and support employee decision-making within his or her scope of responsibilities.

 

Assist manager with leadership responsibilities, including projects and system improvements.

  • Assist management in the preparation of department reports by collecting and summarizing data.
  • Assist with department policy and procedure revision/development.
  • Assist with developing job aids as necessary and enforcing use with staff.
  • Assist department management with employee meetings, budget preparation, strategic planning and expense control in areas assigned.
  • Participate in denials review and implements plans to prevent denials and minimize financial risk for the organization.
  • Participate in software/system testing for implementation or updates to software.
