Job Description

The Case Cart Technician (CCT) at Moffitt Cancer Center prepares case carts for surgery schedule based on surgeon’s preference sheets. The CCT provides strict control of inventory in an automated system (Lawson) through accurate documentation of stock issues, receivables and notation of inventory discrepancies and stock deficits. The CCT is responsible for directing case cart and supply support activities as assigned by Management.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 1 year in supply, distribution, receiving and/or inventory management required. 
  • Ability to utilize computerized inventory management software to enter and/or extract data required. 

Job Specific Duties: 

  • Picks cases accurately as documented on the individual surgeon’s preference sheets
  • The case carts are to be filled based on the case start time, earliest to the latest.
  • Quantity of items pulled are indicated on the pick sheet; if the quantity being pulled is different from that requested, indicate so on the sheet and address any shortfalls with OR assistant manager/ designee.
  • Must identify missing item(s) and contact the appropriate representative. (i.e., Inventory Control, Buyer, Supervisor, and/ or external hospitals).
  • Provides temporary substitutions, as per management, for a procedure when necessary and communicates this to the operating room charge nurse and/or assistant manager.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and competency for the medical supplies necessary to perform these procedures.
  • Handles telephone calls and/or requests from the operating room and performs specific tasks or routines that are supportive to patient care.
  • Provides supplies and equipment as needed and responds to “stat” requests

Monday - Friday 11:30am - 8:00pm.

McKinley Hospital features Outpatient surgical and diagnostic imaging programs complementing our current outpatient surgical practice at the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Outpatient Center across the street and our inpatient and clinical operations on the Magnolia campus. Opening the surgical hospital directly impacts Moffitt’s ability to expand services at our Magnolia campus, alleviates space constraints for patient care and opens up more space for vital cancer research.
