Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

  • Provide project management and financial planning to enable the delivery of all portfolio , scientific and business goals for Medicine Design and the Anti-Infectives (A-I) RU , and associated external collaborations. 

  • Provide project management and workstream delivery for the Medicine Design A-I RU  Leadership teams

  • Lead effective resource tracking and across both Medicine Design and the A-I RU, and esitimates to enable collaborations and aquisitions. 

  • Responsible for financial planning and management of operating expenses (OPEX), portfolio spend, and capital

  • Enable the smooth running of operations and events across Med Design and A-I, including Town Halls, Symposium, ResCo, ELT and BoD briefings, business updates

  • Role requires a motivated self-starter with strong organizational skills and financial acume; a strategic thinker with the ability to execut and manage multiple priorities while paying attention to detail and tight and overlapping timelines; strong collaboration skills across organizational boundaries, and the ability to enhance existing processes or implement new ones, where appropriate.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Planning:

  • Oversee and coordinate the development and execution of the Medicine Design and Anti-Infectives RU Operating Plans

  • Manage the Portfolio Prioritization Review (PPR) process for Anti-Infectives RU ensuring that RU clinical priorities are properly represented in the prioritization process

  • Actively partner with Finance to ensure appropriate level of resourcing is represented in the Op Plan (e.g. OPEX & Capital)

  • Partner with LT members to appropriately represent Med Design and Anti-Infectives RU priorities in Op Plan materials

  • Ensure accurate demand estimates for both organizations and the clinical portfolio

Resource Management & Analytics:

  • Partner with Finance to ensure Medicine Design and the Anti-Infectives RU achieve their financial commitments while maximizing deliverables.  Partner with Procurement to ensure an effective sourcing strategy.  Develop & produce analytics to support efficient operations and which provide insights for the Leadership Team members and enable delivery

Portfolio Reporting:

  • Develop and produce portfolio reporting appropriate for each Line.  Ensure that underlying planning data is aligned with deliverables and meet required cycle times

Strategy:

  • Work with the LTs to define the scientific and operational strategy for the line, and work with the leaders to ensure delivery of the key commitments.  Implement short and long-term therapeutic strategies and align annual goals to meet WRDM objectives.

  • Provide support to the Anti-Infective RU and Medicine Design for  strategic work being undertaken at the WRDLT or A-I category. 

Communication Strategies:

  • Coordinate preparation and submission of contributions to key communications within Medicine Design and the Anti-Infectives RU and to the broader Pfizer community.  Lead preparation for key line communications, through appropriate slide sets, communication plans etc..

Business development, integration &  Pfizer Ignite:- 

  • Accounting for working with finance on resource estimates on all aspects of this work

  • Accountable for integration activities for both licensing and acquisitions, coordinating and managing activities.

  • Provide operational support for all aspects of our work
     

General operations

  • Responsible for the smooth running of both departments and LTs including owning agendas, pre-read, pre-work, minutes and communication cascades for LT meetings, Portfolio LT meetings, ResCo meetings and others. 

  • Responsible for managing collaborations, tracking publications, and providing external landscaping to contextualize business decisions.

  • Oversee clinical audits and compliance across Anti-Infectives Research Unit

  • Develop and maintain a global facility plan supporting operations in the UK, Cambridge, La Jolla, and Groton. Actively partners with Global Workplace Solutions and site facilities organizations to execute laboratory operation, strategic space planning and optimization initiatives.

  • Assist CSO/Head of Medicine Design with key workstreams at the WRDLT and triad, and with presentations for the BoD, EAC and others

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS with 10+ years of relevant experience advising or consulting senior leaders in life sciences.

  • Master’s degree, MBA or Ph.D. preferred

  • Proven track record in life sciences organizational management, strategic, financial and business planning, operations, and business development with the capability to build key relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, working across many disciplines.

  • A well-organized, creative, independent, self-motivated individual with exceptional presentation, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated Pfizer/Big Pharma business acumen; strong project management skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; the ability to respond to tight timelines; as well as, the capability to interact with all levels of the organization in a professional and discrete manner.

  • Strategic thinker; strong analytical and business skills.

  • Able to be entrepreneurial and focus relentlessly on delivering success within budget on tight and immutable timelines.

  • Proven ability to devise and manage metrics/scorecards to measure effectiveness and productivity; strong analytic skills, including the ability to build qualitative and quantitative arguments.

  • Coaches and mentors other; motivates other to maintain a consistent level of excellence in project management and outcomes.

  • Proven ability to develop a range of creative solutions to business challenges.

  • Demonstrated ability to be a change agent within a senior leadership team working across disciplines

  • Sense of fun to bring energy to the role

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Provide the primary groups or key positions that this position will have interaction with as a regular part of the position responsibilities.  Include any external interactions as appropriate.

  • Reports to SVP Head of Medicince Design and CSO Anti-Infectives Research Unit

  • Is a member of the Medicine Design and Anti-Infectives Research Unit Leadership Teams

  • Works with Line leadership, portfolio management, scientific line operations, finance, procurement, global workplace solutions, and Medicinal Sciences operations team, and WRD&M Operations

Supervision

  • Will manage several a team of ~ 4-6 colleagues

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $219,600.00 to $365,800.00. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Salary range does not apply to the Tampa, FL location.
