As an Interventional Radiology Technologist/Special Procedures, you will work under the direct supervision of the Coordinator, Special Procedures to perform special procedures in Radiology to furnish the physicians with conclusive results in a timely manner. This position will work the dayshift, starting between 7:00AM - 8:00AM and ending between 3:30PM - 4:30PM, and be required to provide on-call coverage. As the team grows, opportunities for 10-hour shifts may become available.

- Performs exams as directed by radiologist to ensure appropriate views of anatomy are taken that will facilitate an accurate diagnosis.
- Assists radiologist directly, utilizing sterile technique for all invasive procedures.
- Prepares patient for diagnostic procedures including pulse assessment and sterile field preparation.
- Participates in assessment and quality of equipment and daily operational supplies with the Manager, Radiology, and makes recommendations accordingly.
- Maintains adequate level of supplies.
- Notifies appropriate personnel to ensure proper maintenance of equipment.
- Remains abreast of current developments by attending related seminars and reviewing current literature.
- Assists in other areas of Radiology, if needed, if there is no other work in the special procedures section.
- Conducts patient education and screening and scheduling.
- Complies with all Radiology Information System and PACS entry requirements for accurate patient, film, supply, tracking monitors.
- Ensures the safety of patients, visitors, co-workers and self by using appropriate radiation and bloodborne pathogen precautions.
- Assists and supports the Radiologic student program, specifically the clinical aspect. Provides supervision and feedback to students as they perform procedures. Reviews images with students on request and provides quarterly evaluations of students to clinical instructions for formal reviews.
- Attends continuing education programs and completes mandatory training in order to maintain licensure, position specific ongoing competencies and professional growth.
- Follows hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- Successful completion of approved School of Radiologic Technology program.
Certifications:
- Current license as a radiologic technologist in the State of Ohio. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Obtained certification by ARRT in cardiovascular technology within two years of appointment to the position.
Complexity of Work:
- Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
Work Experience:
- Three years experience as a diagnostic technologist or one year experience in special procedures preferred.
