As a Clinical Manager in Nuclear Medicine, you will:
-Work in conjunction with the Director, and the Imaging Medical Staff to improve patient and workflow via providing support, education and leadership to the technical staff.
-Lead day-to-day operations of the Imaging Department.
-Maintain Kronos, and Radiology charges/CPT. They must demonstrate knowledge of clinical procedures, equipment and policies - Hospital and Department - that are necessary for job performance.
-Coordinate the work activities of assigned staff associates and patient scheduling.
-Maintain and achieve daily productivity and quality assurance standards set by management.
-Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and communicate effectively both verbally and written.
-They must be available to perform duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures applying to ionizing radiation for the purpose of detecting pathology.
-Operates equipment safely and maintains A.L.A.R.A. standards while performing all types of procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes quality improvement, fiscal productivity and patient satisfaction goals and objects in conjunction with upper management.
  • Meets established goals and objectives:
  • Performance Improvement, Fiscal, Productivity, and Patient Satisfaction.
  • Extracts pertinent information from performance assessment and improvement studies, initiates corrective action plans, and re-monitors results.
  • Monitors and assists with the collection, documentation and reporting of performance assessment and improvement data.
  • Conducts yearly competency reviews for all technologists.
  • Fosters open communication by offering, encouraging and accepting suggestions from staff regarding department operations.
  • Delegates responsibilities when appropriate to provide job growth and learning opportunities.
  • Communicates with administration, medical staff, employees and other departments to coordinate efforts, meet special needs and address problems or concerns.
  • Assists in coordinating on-call and staffing schedules with the Clinical Coordinator.
  • Monitors resource utilization, supplies and expenses.
  • Takes action immediately as needed.
  • Evaluates existing systems, processes, equipment and products.
  • Recommends alternative products and processes.
  • Ensures department compliance to JCAHO and/or all applicable governmental agencies.
  • Coordinates and assist in answering scheduling and patient information questions.
  • Coordinates the scheduling of procedures with the appropriate Radiologist, department, nursing floor and departmental staff.
  • Assists in developing and reviewing the process for charges occurred during procedures.
  • Enters and audits all procedural charges.
  • Creates ad-hoc reports for the department as assigned.
  • Appoints a designee to act as team leader in his/her absence; defines and communicates responsibility and authority to designee.
  • Responds to beeper communications within appropriate time frame.
  • Relates the preparation information to patients or nursing as required.
  • Provides written material when necessary.
  • Utilizes appropriate skills in accurately and descriptively documenting patient's pertinent clinical information including the patient's needs, taking into consideration the growth and development level of the patient and age specific related factors as evidenced by documentation on the history form.
  • Responsibly documents patient allergies and pertinent medical surgical history.
  • Obtains all pertinent lab results as required.
  • Consults with radiologist regarding contraindications to ordered exam.
  • Always makes the patient comfortable and recognizes the needs of a patient during the procedure.
  • Always provides privacy for the patient.
  • Assesses age specific groups and needs.
  • Communicates and acts according to age specific recommendations.
  • Always keeps the patient, family, and nursing informed when additional time is needed to complete an exam or when circumstances require delays in the procedure start time.
  • Handles work load in a timely manner by starting and leaving work on time.
  • Establishes priorities, assesses workload, and determines order of importance on a daily basis with minimal guidance required.
  • Maintains emergency supplies and crash cart according to departmental, clinic and hospital policy.
  • Responds to emergency situations i.e. contrast reactions and medical emergencies according to departmental, clinic, and hospital policy.
  • Makes sound clinical judgments in emergency situations.
  • General Transportation Requirements:
  • Always transports patients to the department and back to their rooms when workload warrants or as directed by supervisors.
  • Prior to transporting a patient who is connected to O2, a cardiac monitor, or any other device, the employee will always contact a nurse.
  • Technologist/Nursing Interaction: Always assists Nursing with the correct requisition, exam, preps, and length of time a patient will be in the department.
  • Always advises the nurse in charge of the patient of any unusual occurrence which happened to the patient while in Imaging Department. Always consults with physician or Nursing on any error or diagnosis related discrepancy observed on the exam requisition. Advise Nursing of any signed consent forms needed prior to a procedure.
  • General Responsibilities: Always checks the written order of the physician prior to beginning the procedure and documents in chart or on the order upon completion of procedures. Operates the required digital equipment effectively in the production, storage, filming, retrieval, and transmission of images. Performs computer functions accurately and completely. Responsibly completes all ordering, scheduling, and billing processes. Immediately reports any equipment malfunctions to supervisor and/or technical representative. Submits ideas for improvements or changes needed to improve department operations. Answers the telephone, stating name and department, speaking in clear and moderate voice, answers questions and refers and transfers as needed. Orients new personnel and assists in their transition to the work environment as assigned. Provides backup assistance to other associates in the department upon completion of duties or as assigned by supervisor. Report any equipment problems, safety issues or patient complaints to your supervisor. Always abides by regulations that apply to State and National licenses. Provides current documentation showing continuing medical education, certification, and license as required. Wear your film badge appropriately and exchange it promptly each month. Operates equipment safely and maintains ALARA standards while performing procedures utilizing ionizing radiation. Abides by regulations that apply to State and National licenses. Works in a cooperative manner to ensure the completion of all special procedures and related tasks. Takes call willingly and responsibly as required. Responds in a positive manner to changes in work schedule. Attends and participates in monthly department meetings. Maintains BLS certification.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.

Languages:

Certifications:

  • Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT). Holds a Florida License as a General Radiographer (RAD). American Heart Assn. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Work Experience:

  • Five years experience as an Imaging Technologist in an acute care imaging setting is recommended.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulatories.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires a mixture of moderate to heavy work as defined in the Employee Health Services Policy.
  • Physical requirements include frequent walking, sitting and standing. Frequent usage of the phone and computer. Frequent pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling and crouching.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests and to work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.
  • Special Demands: Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities; self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work at hand.
  • Confidentiality: Has limited access to the medical record for the purpose of verifying orders in the charts or prescription and to sign off after exam completion. In addition, in this position the employee will be limit the PHI disclosed or requested to the amount reasonable necessary to achieve the purpose of the request. The disclosures or requests that occur on a routine or recurring basis include every patient's orders need to be verified prior to the exam. The employee makes these disclosures for the purpose of making sure that the correct exam is performed due to the doctors orders as well as signing off that the exam was completed of the request. The employee makes these disclosures for the purpose of verifying orders in the charts or prescription and to sign.
