Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

Oncology Key Account Managers are responsible for developing/maintaining strong business-to-business relationships at the BU’s largest organized provider accounts.   This includes, but is not limited to, advancing quality-based initiatives that align with the BU’s portfolio priorities, as well as the customer’s patient care and population health management priorities.  It also includes  effectively and compliantly engaging appropriate customer targets (executive and administrative level personnel within assigned accounts) with respect to pricing and value messages in support of the full Oncology portfolio ( inclusive of contracting/pricing discussions in support of Oncology biosimilars portfolio).   Lastly, the role is responsible for facilitating appropriate communication and alignment across the different customer-facing functions in the BU, with respect to engagement with Key Accounts.   Oncology Key Accounts include, but are not limited to, large community ONC and URO practices, NCI/Academic institutions, and Oncology service lines within large hospital systems and IDNs.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitoring of key market trends, prioritization of accounts and account opportunities, identification of areas of mutual interest between Pfizer and key accounts, and development and execution of strategic account plans with integrity
  • Appropriate and compliant communication and collaboration with cross-functional field-based colleagues (Sales, Medical, FRM, PCA/SAS, Government Relations) to ensure optimal and appropriate coverage of and engagement with Key Accounts.
  • Alignment with HQ stakeholders to ensure appropriate understanding of, and support for, key account goals (e.g., National Customer Group, Brand and Customer Marketing teams, and PCA/SAS team).   
  • Ensure development/execution of focused and strategic account plans for all assigned accounts, including effective facilitation of cross-functional field-based Account team (ALT/ACT).
  • Work with Customer Solutions team and brand marketers to develop/deploy new training and resources to support evolving Key Account customer priorities/objectives.  
  • Advance quality-based initiatives and projects at key accounts that align with BU portfolio priorities, as well as customer patient care and population health priorities.
  • Effectively and compliantly engage appropriate customer targets (executive and administrative level personnel within assigned accounts) with respect to pricing and value messages in support of the full Oncology portfolio (inclusive of Oncology biosimilars products).  
  • Complies with all Corporate Policies and Procedures, while conducting all job-related activities with integrity and adherence to Pfizer’s high standards of business conduct.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical (or related) experience in customer-facing roles/functions
  • Strong understanding of evolving healthcare landscape in US, including US Healthcare Reform, and impact on organized provider accounts/customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully engage executive/administrative level personnel at large accounts, and deliver customer impact.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating effectively and gaining alignment with colleagues across different parts of the organization (including field and HQ), and leading (formally or informally) cross-functional teams.
  • Strong financial acumen (ability to deliver complex pricing/value messages to organized provider accounts in a fully compliant fashion).
  • Oncology market experience/expertise (including account buy-and-bill expertise) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically with the ability to formulate, develop, write, communicate and monitor the execution of stakeholder business plans
  • Experience in executing and in overseeing highly complex programs and projects (e.g., strong project management skills).
  • Bachelors degree required, MBA (or related post-graduate degree) preferred.
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated strong knowledge of the evolving healthcare market/landscape, ability to develop and manage executive-level relationships with Key Accounts (C and D Suite), demonstrated account management & negotiation skills, and understanding of how to prioritize resources and develop actionable account-level business plans.
  • Account Planning: Is able to understand, influence and adapt to changing local healthcare, key Customer and stakeholder needs. Assesses needs/opportunities at key Accounts and prioritizes limited resources in order to create 'wins' for the Customer and for Pfizer Oncology.  Aligns local, regional or national Account needs with Pfizer goals, understands the healthcare and local market trends and accordingly develops appropriate Account plans.
  • Relationship Management: Builds and maintains strong trusting relationships; has persuasive oral and written communication skills and understands the role in the wider context of Pfizer / the healthcare environment.  Effective listening and communication skills; thinks and communicates with the audience's needs in mind.
