Job Description

PURPOSE

  • Medical and scientific expert charged to provide medical input and guidance on areas of medical messaging and the hospital portfolio strategy; represent the country hospital portfolio medical affairs to leverage global/regional resources, customize global/regional promotional material content and activities; and design and oversee execution of medical initiatives in the assigned market through close collaboration with the country commercial teams.
  • Medical and scientific expert in both external and internal stakeholder interactions in the hospital portfolio and provide support for Pfizer’s various engagement/partnership programs. Actively interact and collaborate with fellow medical affairs colleagues, Regional, and Global Medical Affairs Teams in order to contribute to and leverage on its resources and expertise; share best practices programs, resources and partnerships; and ensure alignment with medical strategies and execution.  Oversee the Company’s adherence to the highest standards of conduct in all its dealings with the healthcare community, patients and governments and other stakeholders.

                   

MAIN REPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

Medical Leadership

  • Support the portfolio of hospital products including AI, SI and shaping the environment for innovative launch assets. To take a medical leadership role in developing the medical messaging and strategy for the hospital portfolio based on country objectives and customer insights.
  • Provide medical input and guidance in the development of strategies (e.g., brand strategic plans) for the hospital portfolio, as well as developing medical strategies and medical contents for those key brands that are not supported by the global team
  • Develop partnerships with internal and external stakeholders including for market access. Works cohesively with commercial teams, providing medical input and guidance in the development of hospital portfolio strategies (e.g., brand strategic plans, among others), ensuring that the overall country medical strategy is evident, relevant, and sound for the hospital. work directly with the regional medical lead for alignment and represent the country in leveraging global/regional resources in the assigned markets.
  • Plan and consolidate medical resources to support the hospital portfolio strategies and medical initiatives from other countries, region and global medical teams
  • Act as the medical point of contact for cross functional collaboration and strategic alignment for the hospital portfolio
  • Represent Medical Affairs and play an active role in the Global Strategic Planning Community (SPC) and Global Content Creation Community (CCC) for the hospital portfolio and ensure strategic alignment with TA strategies, stakeholder needs, and regional/global medical teams
  • Ensures that all activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and SOPs, Pfizer values, and global guidelines (including MAPP, FCPA), as appropriate.

Leadership and People Management (if with direct reports now or in future)

  • Lead and mentor the medical affairs team (Medical Managers and/or MSL) assigned to the hospital portfolio. The SMAM may be responsible for the talent acquisition, development and retention of the medical affairs colleagues for the hospital portfolio
  • Lead the medical support and will be ultimately accountable for the medical strategy and actions of the medical affairs colleagues assigned to the hospital portfolio

Interactions with Healthcare Professionals and External Stakeholders

  • Develop and lead strategic medical and scientific relationships or partnerships with HCPs and medical societies, the academe and governments for sub-cluster programs or multi-country programs, through close collaboration with the medical affairs teams of other countries
  • Support Pfizer engagement /partnership programs between governments, Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), HCP Organizations and Academia for country programs in support of the value creating medical affairs strategies.  The SMAM will act as medical and scientific expert to provide guidance to country colleagues in their partnership programs as needed.
  • Take the lead in KOL development and engagement plans for the hospital portfolio or multi-country programs in the hospital portfolio.

Research & Publications

  • Establish partnership with key stakeholders (eg. medical academic institutions/ KOLs/ medical societies, public health advocates and government) in data generation programs and building research capabilities in the assigned therapeutic area(s), through close collaboration with other members of the country medical affairs organizations, other country colleagues, regional colleagues and global colleagues.
  • Act as the hospital portfolio medical lead within the country/regional/global  medical steering committees in the review and approval of research proposals and publication manuscripts to ensure scientific quality and value to patients. The research proposals include real-world data analysis, and Investigator initiated study proposals, etc. 

Promotional Materials/Activities Review/Approval

  • Provide medical input and guidance in the development, customization of regional and global and medical materials/ activities and promotional materials and/or activities to meet local market needs and in alignment with country strategies

REQUIRED SKILL SET

  • Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in Pharmaceutical industry
  • At least 3 years of experience as a medical affairs manager or equivalent position
  • Experience in handling teams within a matrix organization or people management preferred
  • Good working knowledge of the Industry Code of Conduct
