Position Summary

Leads and facilitates process improvement teams to provide quality engineering expertise in the areas of design, measurement, analysis, improvement, and control. Impacts process improvement initiatives throughout the institution. Leads and facilitates process improvement teams to provide quality engineering improvement strategies, problem solving strategies and project management. Responsible for analytical reporting of quality metrics and cancer care outcomes. Develops and operates systems of quality control. Responsible for applications and analysis of testing and inspection procedures. Applies statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices. Develops and administers management information systems and audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Provides expertise in quality costs, quality function deployment, failure mode and effects analysis. Acts as a change agent for the institution and provides quantitative quality expertise and quality engineering support for the improvement activities throughout the institution.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Utilizes Quality Improvement models, methodologies, and tools to improve the quality of clinical care
  • Responsible for all clinical process improvement initiatives for COH OC
  • Performs analysis of current state clinical work structure, processes, and performance deltas to determine focus for improvement projects
  • Identifies project measures using evidence-based best practices for benchmarking and to establish targets
  • Consults and collaborates with Clinical Leaders, Quality/Safety Staff and Healthcare Systems Engineers to facilitate, coach, lead inter-disciplinary teams with performance improvement projects
  • Ensures the application of effective Project Management strategies to guide team performance
  • Provides educational content and delivery of training in basic and intermediary quality tools and strategies
  • Works with clinical leadership to develop data driven staffing models, metrics, and productivity
  • Designs, monitors, and updates process improvement database
  • Demonstrates competency in communication, customer service, initiative, motivation, professionalism, teamwork, and stewardship
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field

Minimum Experience: One year of quality Engineering or related experience. With preferred degree, no experience required

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Applied Sciences, Management, or related field
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Six Sigma Black Belt, Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Project Management Professional (PMP)

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
