Job Description

Summary

BCM is looking to hire a part-time research coordinator or grant-funded studies on family and environmental influences on children’s and adults’ weight status and physical activity. The position includes assisting the Principal Investigator and Project Manager on one project: implementation of an obesity prevention study for Hispanic fathers and their children. The position requires skills in recruiting, scheduling, communicating and data collection. There may be opportunity to work on other funded studies in the future. Bilingual in Spanish and English is required. 

Job Duties

  • Attend and pass BCM certified training on HIPAA and human subject research and consent procedures.
  • Schedule qualified participants and help with data collection activities in community studies.
  • Assist in the data collection of an existing obesity prevention program for Hispanic fathers and their child(ren), including data entry of data collected. Data collection could include, measuring participants Height, Weight, Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, HbgA1C, 24 hour dietary recalls, waist circumference and survey questionnaires.
  • Help enter, monitor, maintain, verify, and keep current participant data in Access, Excel and RedCap database systems.
  • Maintain records of data collection (screening, demographic files, clinic visits, game play).
  • Maintain general recruitment records (computer and paper).
  • Provide project manager and principal investigator with reports on study progress, data forms, data collection, intervention implementation and contacts, as requested.
  • Attend project staff meetings.
  • Assist with administrative duties of research study such as audit preparation, assisting in preparing the study reports, monetary disbursements, and organizing participant files.
  • Adhere to Behavioral Nutrition Group and study guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
