Job Description

Summary

The translational nanomedicine research lab in the Department of Surgery at BCM is looking for a research assistant. Our research program aims to rapidly advance functional biomaterials, drug delivery and bioengineering strategies through multidisciplinary approaches. A major focus of our research group is to develop technologies that can be translated to the clinic to improve the patients’ quality of life. 

Job Duties

  • Evaluate the in vitro pharmacokinetics and therapeutic efficacy of the biomaterials, micro/nanoconstructs, perform in vivo animal experiments, may include surgical procedures, and assist in data analyses.
  • Contribute to new abstract/manuscript preparations and present findings at local and national meetings.
  • Participate in group meetings and day to day lab management.
  • Responsible for animal ordering, procurement, and animal colony management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field. 
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. in Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medical Sciences, or a related degree.
  • Candidates must be highly motivated and should have a strong interest in in vivo studies, pharmacokinetics and drug efficacy studies. 
  • Experience in in vivo pharmacokinetics, developing mouse and rat models for injury will be valuable. 
  • The candidate should have strong organizational and oral and written communication skills for assisting and collaborating with multidisciplinary groups of clinicians, biomedical researchers, and technology innovators in a dynamic team environment.
