Position Description
Harvard Medical School’s Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI) is seeking a strong applicant for the position of Project Manager to provide high-level management of complex departmental projects, including the People-Powered Medicine (PPM) projects, while also assisting with departmental agreements coordination and management. People-Powered Medicine (PPM) aims to gather as much information as possible about individuals with particular conditions into one secure research database.

This project is currently recruiting for two cohorts: (1) individuals who are exceptional responders to cancer treatments (also referred to as NEER: Network of Enigmatic Exceptional Responders), and (2) individuals with Rheumatoid Arthritis who are non-responders to biologic treatments (RANT: Rheumatoid Arthritis Non-responders to Treatments). This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading hub for computational biology, translational bioinformatics, and precision medicine. Based on the Harvard Medical School Longwood Campus, the department is part of a vibrant community of scientists, physicians, students, engineers, and staff whose goal is to advance the boundaries of knowledge.

The Project Manager will report to the Senior Project Manager and will be responsible for the following activities:
  • Support departmental agreements creation and submissions through the Harvard Agreement System, this involves coordination with the Harvard Office of Research Administration and Harvard Office of Technology Development.
  • Monitor continuing reviews of agreements and data safety submissions, identifying all upcoming continuing reviews and expirations in the agreement system.
  • Manage the drafting of IRB modifications and other study documents, working closely with the Harvard Longwood Campus IRB in the Office of Regulatory Affairs and Research Compliance.
  • Provides guidance to DBMI faculty on DUA filing and IRB creation.
  • Manage internal and external requirements of projects.
  • Work in close collaboration with the PI and project team on developing and tracking project milestones and deliverables and executing the work.
  • Provide day-to-day operations management support and administrative support to the PI and the project team, including but not limited to:
    • Attend/schedule meetings,
    • Coordinate patient participation through communication and monitoring of patient study progress,
    • Assemble and ship patient materials,
    • Respond to questions and requests from participants and vendors,
    • Order supplies,
    • Assist with SOW and contracts with vendors.
  • Independently interact with outside constituencies such as Harvard administrators, faculty, and business partners.
  • Prepare and submit reports to internal groups and sponsors as needed.
  • Use discretion in study management, planning, and organization, as well as participant communication.
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information and progress to the principal investigator and the project team.
Basic Qualifications
5 or more years of experience in science or health-related field. Higher education may count towards experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree preferred. 5 years of progressive project coordination/management experience required.
  • Previous experience in human subjects study coordination.
  • Previous experience working in a research environment preferred.
  • Proven time management efficiency and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills via email, in-person, and telephone.
  • Experience handling complex and confidential information with discretion.
  • Detail-oriented and superb organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and activities in a very busy work environment that is often deadline driven.
  • Ability to self-determine priorities.
Additional Information
This is a 12-month term appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent on funding.

This position will be based in Boston. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you will begin your work remotely. All remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA*, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VA, VT, and WA). The fully remote nature of this job is only temporary. Once the University and your supervisor determine that it is appropriate, in-person on-campus work will be required as a condition of continued employment. This department actively supports some remote work (within a state in which Harvard is registered to do business) where business and team needs allow. Individual flexible and remote work options for this role will be discussed during the interview process. *Note: Harvard employees working in California must be exempt.
