Summary:
The Associate Director, Cancer Center Administration is a member of the Cancer Center Leadership Team (CCLT) and is responsible for the administrative oversight of Cancer Center strategic planning, management, and evaluation. The AD partners closely with the center director and other members of the leadership team to ensure appropriate administrative and financial management of the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), as well as various other cancer center activities and initiatives.
The position ensures alignment between the cancer center and institute operations and formally represents the cancer center to the NCI.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides administrative leadership and subject matter expertise in cancer center strategic planning, management, and evaluation
- Working closely with the CCLT, supports the development of the plan to enhance diversity
- In collaboration with the Associate Director, Education and Training, manages and directs team members in the coordination of cancer research training and education
- Leads and directs activities and team members to deliver on requirements and key deliverables of the CCSG, which includes non-competing continuation and renewal submissions
- Directs and advises on the management of the budget and financial records for the CCSG; monitors and evaluates financial analysis and forecasting
- Provides financial oversight, analysis, and planning for the shared resources
- Partners with Institute leaders in support of cancer center goals and initiatives
- Contributes and provides advice in support of the cancer center’s program structure and membership
- Supports faculty recruitment, planning of recruitment packages utilizing CCSG developmental funds, coordinating with the director and institute staff
- Provides feedback and guidance related to event planning and management
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or other related field required
- Advanced degree preferred
- Seven years’ experience with research administration, including preparation of grant proposals, funding agency requirements and budgets required
- Two years’ supervisory/management experience required
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
- Proficiency with financial and database systems and thorough working knowledge of software packages required
- Financial management skills, including multi-year planning, budgeting, forecasting, oversight and report/grant proposal preparation is requried
- Familiarity with NIH and other Federal agency policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently in an interdisciplinary team environment
- Strong analytical, organizational, and administrative management skills
- Ability to act with discretion and judgment and maintenance of confidentiality
- Ability to prioritize and work under pressure in a deadline-oriented environment
- Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with varied groups

Compensation:
The expected hiring range for this position is listed at $120,000 - $215,000/year commensurate with experience
