Summary

The Laboratory Manager position on the Human Genome Sequencing Center's (HGSC) Library-Automation/CLIA   workgroup will apply expertise and manage staff in the area of genomic sequencing to clinical samples for the ongoing research and  clinical sequencing projects. These projects are highly visible and impact the national reputation of the HGSC and of Baylor College of Medicine.  
 

Job Duties

  • Oversee the wet lab daily production operations and ensure quality of the service at the HGSC Clinical Laboratory. Closely monitor the NGS pipeline QC including sample intake, library preparation, target enrichment, and SNP array genotyping. 
  • Supervises laboratory personnel in a variety of laboratory duties. 
  • Conduct employee competency assessment, procedure training and recording in personnel files.
  • Design and direct the validations of clinical testing and instrument.
  • Organize and conduct the initial writing of SOP and following revision. 
  • Troubleshoot for the instrument, assay and reagent in terms of problems. 
  • Interact with quality compliance officers to ensure the lab meets CAP/CLIA standard and state, local government requirements. Prepare documentation for routine inspections.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Five years of relevant experience, with prior supervisory experience.
