Job Description

Summary

The Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine is seeking a Research Assistant I. In a collaborative team environment, the RA will recruit, screen, consent, enroll, randomize and collect data on study participants following research study protocol. Coordinate the clinical trial under the supervision of the PI, including the scheduling of potential participants, tracking patient participation and drop out, assisting with annual IRB package submissions, and entering and verifying study data. Position requires face-to-face and telephone interviewing of patients who are experiencing advanced illness; experience and degree of comfort with people at end of life is necessary. The applicant will collect, analyze, and summarize data, conduct literature searches, make figures, and write parts of research articles. The applicant will provide timely updates to the PI and supervising lab members. 
 

Job Duties

  • Reads and summarizes scientific literature and generates figures to summarize scientific data; writes research articles.
  • Ensures all study participants and collaborators feel valued and appreciated
  • Monitors timeline to ensure timely accomplishment of study objectives
  • Maintains in real-time elements of consort diagram
  • Ensures timely, complete, and accurate collection of participant generated data
  • Completes all required and assigned training modules and sends weekly updates to the PI and supervising lab members.
  • Anticipates and completes all elements of regulatory oversight in collaboration with the PI
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • MSc or MD with 1 year or experience.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required
