Job Description

Summary

The Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery is seeking an Audiologist. The ideal candidate should have experience in providing comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of audiologically impaired adult patients on an out-patient basis in a fast-paced, high volume Neurotology/Otology clinic. A successful candidate will positively contribute to our patients' experience by providing compassionate care, and being a reliable member of the team. Ideally, candidates will have an interest in working in an outpatient facility with surgical patients and the desire to work closely with surgeons and learners in an academic setting.

Job Duties

  • Administers and interprets audiological evaluations and assessments
  • Assesses the candidacy of persons with hearing loss for hearing aids, osseointegrated devices, and cochlear implants; provide fitting, programming, and audiological rehabilitation to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Counsels individuals with auditory disorders, their families and other service providers regarding the etiology of the disorder and its management.
  • Provides reports and coordinates audiological results with other diagnostic data such as educational, medical, social and behavioral information.
  • Maintains professional certification by meeting all continuing education requirements. 
  • Dispenses hearing aids to patients. 
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and timely documentation.
  • Maintains supplies and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Audiology.
  • No experience required.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Texas State Licensure as an Audiologist from the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR).

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of patients.
  • Ability to problem solve to adapt standard clinical procedures to the individual patient's needs.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and react calmly under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to work and contribute in a team environment.
