Job Description

Responsible for planning and implementing synchrotron radiation research for 3D nano-imaging, focusing on ptychography and scanning probe-type instruments. Performs coherent imaging experiments and associated data analysis. Responsibilities include participating in the design, construction, and installation of a new beamline, as well as the development of advanced instrumentation and methods. Develops scientific applications collaboratively with users and supports user experiments. Responsible for reporting relevant results in an appropriate form.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8+ yrs of experience, Master's & 5+ yrs or Doctorate & 4+ yrs.
  • Skill in experimental physics to develop advanced instrumentation for high-resolution imaging with ptychography or equivalent techniques.
  • Experience with beamline instrumentation and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of x-ray physics, including x-ray diffraction, x-ray optics and x-ray detectors, scattering processes, etc.
  • Skill in understanding abstract concepts and synthesizing results within the current experimental and theoretical framework.
  • Experience interacting with scientific staff and research groups. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Ability to effectively communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and skill sets.
  • Knowledge of microscopy.
  • Knowledge of coherent diffraction phase retrieval algorithms and tomographic inversion algorithms.
  • Skill in written and oral communications.
