Job Description

The Department of Nursing Professional Development supports the mission of the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute through products and services that prepare staff to deliver high quality, and safe care.

We offer nursing orientation, a nurse residency program, continuing education and in-services, and competency programs for nurses and other nursing health care providers. Education Specialists and Clinical Specialists collaborate to support all clinical areas.

Our department serves as a liaison with the Florida Board of Nursing and maintains standards for continuing education provider status with the Board. We also coordinate student placements for undergraduate and graduate nursing students

We are currently looking for a Nursing Education Specialist to join our team. 

 

Position Highlights:

·         The Nursing Education Specialist represents and supports the mission, philosophy and goals of Moffitt Cancer Center and seeks innovative ways to achieve education program goals.

 

·         This position seeks and integrates current knowledge of oncology nursing and principles of adult learning into education.

 

·         The Nursing Education Specialist utilizes systematic educational planning principles, solid instructional design methods, and emerging technologies for the creation of relevant programs, materials, methods, and media to communicate information and implements monitoring and assessment measures to determine effectiveness.

 

·         This individual designs high quality education programs and materials for diverse audiences across practice settings with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate

·         The ideal candidate will have the following:

o   Oncology experience, certification preferred.

o   National Specialty Certification required

 

Responsibilities:

·         Conducts assessment of educational needs; identified priorities and plans accordingly.

 

·         Plans and implements educational programs utilizing principles of adult learning and varied teaching strategies.

 

·         Evaluates and revises educational programs; recommends changes in the education process based on evaluative findings and accreditation/regulatory standards.

 

·         Ensures effective and efficient coordination of education programs and materials/media; promotes multidisciplinary participation in education process.

 

·         Leads groups to achieve department and Center goals; i.e. improvement initiatives, educational endeavors, committees and task forces.

 

·         Serves in capacity of expert resource utilizing advanced oncology nursing knowledge and skills.

 

 

Credentials and Qualifications:

·         Master's Degree in Nursing, Education, Public Health or related field Or active enrollment in Master's program (Graduation required within 1 year of employment)

·         National Specialty Certification

·         BSN from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution

·         3 years of relevant nursing experience

·         FL RN License
