Job Summary: 

The clinical IV, a Registered Nurse, as an expert professional practitioner, assumes responsibility and accountability for the expert application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. Consistently demonstrates professional skills and abilities, utilizes knowledge base and exemplary leadership and educational skills to direct and supervise the clinical performance of others in the role of resource person. Demonstrates motivation and creativity and serves as a catalyst for effective changes. The Clinical Nurse IV performs within the scope of responsibility, duties and accountability of the Nurse Practice Act and possesses the clinical/technical skills necessary for the leadership role. This position functions as an Oncology Registered Nurse IV performing clinical duties in the infusion clinic to provide quality patient care. 
1. Demonstrates independence in assessing patient care needs and learning needs on routine and complex adult and geriatric patients to develop plan of care. Plans care and education based on disease process and desired patient outcomes. Ensures continuity of services provided to patients across all healthcare settings, utilizing protocols and/or clinical pathways, as appropriate. 
2. Assists Clinical Nurse II & III with assessment of complex patients. 
3. Demonstrates understanding of lab diagnostic data and incorporates in assessment; acts as a resource for others interpreting results.
4. Identifies recurring clinical issues and uses leadership skills to change or solve them.
5. Assists other team members in the completion of assignments, and is active as a resource, preceptor and role model. 
6. Discusses concerns or conflicts in appropriate setting, utilizing appropriate and effective verbal and non-verbal communication.
7. Expresses ideas clearly; listens effectively; keeps others informed as necessary.
8. Assists with preparation of performance appraisals for Clinical Nurse II & III.
9. Participates in daily staffing of the Tower Hematology Oncology infusion center.
10. Assists Nurse Manager in performance quality control and with special projects as needed.


Educational Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
BSN required
MSN Preferred


Current California RN License required
Current Chemo-Bio Certificate required
Current certificate in basic CPR
Oncology Certified Nurse OCN required


5 years recent experience in Oncology nursing required
Prior Charge Nurse experience preferred
Competency in intravenous skills and vascular access device management
