What Your Job Will Be Like: The Fab Tech Development Department, 05229, is seeking a Laboratory Support Technologist to assist the department's microsystem and microdevice fabrication research needs. The individual will work with a group of staff, technologists, post-docs, and students in a team environment to deliver high impact results for research & development projects. They will be expected to work with acids, bases, and solvents to fabricate microdevices using traditional and non-traditional semiconductor fabrication techniques. In this fast paced, team-oriented research environment, the individual must have excellent problem solving, teaming, documentation, and communication skills. Current work examples include the development of electrochemically deposited materials, plating of high reliability coatings, and electro-polishing of high precision surfaces. The individual will work with our team to identify process parameters to control material properties such as stoichiometry, orientation, grain size, porosity, or morphology as well as non-traditional advanced electroplating development. Experience with various electroanalytical methods for example, rotating disk electrodes analysis, electrochemical impedance spectroscopic analysis, or the various methods of cyclic voltammetry are highly desirable. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Implement lithography and fabrication of nano- and micro-scale electronic devices using advanced techniques, resists, and chemistries. + Perform specific processing steps in the micro-fabrication of microelectronic devices. + Work with chemical solvents, acids, and bases. + Develop experimental processes, apply novel analytical techniques, establish new characterization methods, optimize existing laboratory and characterization techniques, and perform experiments. + Perform experiments for electroplating, electrochemistry and analytical electrochemistry, materials characterization, and information extraction, and formally document results for the customer. + Support documentation and publication efforts, including the preparation of information for scientific and engineering publications. + Perform work in a safe and compliant manner, seek out subject matter expert advice as needed, and maintain the necessary documentation. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time. Qualifications We Require: + Bachelor’s in STEM or other relevant field + Experience in electrochemistry techniques and processes + Experience with electrochemically engineering materials and processes + Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE L clearance Qualifications We Desire: + Ability to team with other materials scientists and chemists + Ability to contribute to proposal development About Our Team: The Fab Tech Development Department leverages a diverse capability set to provide science and technology products to enhance Sandia's national security missions. The department includes a broad set of expertise including atomic physics, quantum information S&T, micro-optics, and electrochemistry. We provide solutions including atomic physics based sensors; microfabrication at the atomic scale, atomic level experimental setups, atom and ion trapping microelectronic devices, and electrochemical materials expertise.
