Our group in the Immuno-Oncology Department in the Beckman Research Institute at the City of Hope is interested in developing prophylactic and therapeutic strategic against oncogenic herpesviruses and their associated malignancies, with the ultimate goal of translating these strategies into the clinic. We are currently preparing one of our vaccine candidates for clinical translation. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with previous experience in Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) or Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environments to help us achieve our goal. Additionally, this individual will oversee general laboratory maintenance, generation of critical reagents (protein and antibodies), and will also be involved in additional pre-clinical animal studies.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Managing essential day-to-day laboratory operations (i.e. lab supply/reagent purchasing, equipment/instrument maintenance) under the supervision of the PI
- Performing experiments under GLP/GMP conditions, and writing and maintaining the associated GLP/GMP standard operating procedures (SOPs) and reports
- Cell culture including application of aseptic techniques for media compounding, passaging, maintenance and cryopreservation of cell cultures
- Protein/antibody production in mammalian cell systems, and purification (ÄKTA pure system)
- Mouse handling (injections, collection of blood and tissues)
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
- Bachelor’s degree. Masters degree preferred.
- Two years related research/ laboratory experience with a Bachelor’s degree or
- One year related research/ laboratory experience with a Master’s degree
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred education, experience and skills:
- Previous experience on GLP/GMP environment, and writing/maintenance of SOPs
- Extensive hands-on experience in cell culture and aseptic technique
- Previous experience in protein production and purification in mammalian cell systems
