Job Description


A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Dennis Ohman in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. The successful candidate will participate in a federal grant-funded project studying the bacterial pathogen, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Projects include evaluation of therapeutics that prevent the production of bacterial exopolysccharide (capsule) to enhance immune efficiency in eliminating the pathogen. Required Qualifications:

Candidate must have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and have a background in biology, bacteriology, biochemistry and/or bacterial pathogenesis. Candidates are expected to be motivated for career development, committed to driving high impact research, able to work independently and have good written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with microbiology, bacterial culture manipulations (especially Pseudomonas), biochemical assays and data keeping
