Job Description

This position is for a postdoctoral researcher to support the electric vehicle project sponsored by DOE Vehicle Technologies Office (VTO) on EV analysis and grid integration into power systems. The candidate will perform research into the modeling and grid integration analysis of electric vehicles, smart charging, and flexibility assessment.

This position is for a postdoctoral researcher to perform research and development work especially in DOE sponsored projects.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop electric vehicle charging models with simulated results and validation.

  • Develop electric vehicle grid integration models and perform corresponding effect analysis and quantification of impacts.

  • Perform test case analysis over electric vehicle charging and grid integration with selected distribution test systems.

  • Conduct research on grid support functions from individual and fleet of electric vehicles, with simulated results and case study.

  • Assists in project coordination and communication activities with sponsors, project partners, and industry stakeholders. Participate in proposals for fund raising.

  • Prepare reports, give presentations, and publish results in peer-reviewed conference/journal publications.

Position Requirements:

  • Ph.D degree in electrical engineering focusing on power systems.

  • Knowledge on electric vehicle, power systems modeling, grid impact analysis and simulation

  • Experience in programming languages and simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, C++, OpenDSS, and SQL).

  • Communication skills, verbal and written, and ability to interact as a contributing member of a scientific project of engineering team.
