Who we are

The Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) department provides reliable and cost-effective, mission-critical, enterprise-wide information systems at Texas A&M University’s main campus (including School of Law, Health Science Center, and other locations across Texas) and its branch campuses in Galveston and Qatar to support the academic, administrative, research and recruiting missions of Texas A&M University. EIS systems allow students to apply, enroll, pay and graduate, then transition from Texas A&M University to careers. The EIS team manages the student information system, a software product called Banner, which assists academic services to ensure effective and efficient processes and quality services for students. EIS also maintains and enhances the "Howdy" web portal serving as the "front door" for student information system content and more. Howdy currently allows Texas A&M University students, applicants, faculty, staff, parents and former students to use a single sign-on to access web-based campus services.

EIS is looking for a an IT Business Analyst I who is responsible for providing support for EIS applications including Compass (Ellucian's Banner) and Howdy. This position works closely with end-users and EIS technical staff to successfully deliver enhancements, upgrades, and patches to the EIS managed applications including the development and phased delivery of the Academic Requirements Completion System (ARCS) project. Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Two years of progressively responsible experience designing, analyzing, or implementing business processes.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment.

Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Master's degree.

Three years or more years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following; ERP implementation experience, student information system experience, Ellucian Banner experience, custom software development and testing, and training or customer support experience.

Experience collaborating with student information system functional areas such as Academic Advising, Recruiting / Admissions, Records, Student Business Services, Student Financial Aid, and Graduate Studies.

Project Analysis and Development - Assists senior analysts for the Admissions and Records areas by performing functional analysis tasks. Assists in the identification of gaps between the ARCS project and other EIS managed applications and the end-users’ needs. Determines the most effective method for bridging the identified gaps. Configures the EIS managed applications for the Admissions and Records areas. Works with the development team on the design and maintenance of batch job chains and components. Interacts with the functional home department on a regular basis to facilitate business process change and ensures that departmental requirements are met. Understands, researches, and interprets functional requirements and regulations, and formulates processes to meet these requirements and regulations.

Project Specification and Testing - Assists programming staff with end user interaction, creation of functional requirements, and testing of programming changes. Develops testing plans and performs testing of the ARCS project and other EIS managed applications. Uses documentation software to document business processes and testing plans.

Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution - Researches and resolves issues reported by end users.

Documentation - Develops end user documentation and training materials on how to use ARCS and other EIS supported applications. Uses documentation software to document functional processes.

Professional Development - Participates in training and professional development sessions.

Design Security for Projects - Assists senior analysts with the design of security for the ARCS project and EIS managed applications. Coordinates the setup of report definitions in Compass Reports.

Product Coordination - Works with the ARCS project manager and OGAPS to ensure that departmental requirements are met and the phased ARCS functionality is delivered on-time. Interacts with Ellucian staff and other universities that use the Ellucian software (e.g., submits Ellucian cases, participates in the Ellucian Commons, and monitors discussion threads / listservs).
