The Cao lab is seeking a motivated and talented individual who is interested in the basic research on Alzheimer's disease (AD) and neurodegeneration. The successful candidate will receive ample training from a dynamic group of researchers to contribute to the discovery research on neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration, and to the identification of new therapeutic targets for AD.
The technician will gain broad research experience in lab management, mouse husbandry, colony management, phenotyping, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, and neuroscience.
Performs routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills and technical or academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results.
Maintain lab supply inventory and place purchase orders.
Prepare common lab reagents as needed, perform assigned general laboratory duties, maintain an organized electronic lab notebook.
Maintain accurate animal husbandry and genotyping records
Take care lab animals and perform weanings and euthanasia as needed.
Perform routine mouse genotyping
Assist lab personnel in a variety of biochemistry, immunology, and molecular biology experiments.
Conduct preparative procedures for tissue harvesting.
Education Required: High School diploma or GED.
Experience Required: Two years of relevant experience.
